I recommend an extraordinary art exhibition in Kirkcudbright Town Hall. With some of the largest, most startling and well-conceived works, by Alexander Goudie, depicting the Tam O Shanter legends as told -poetically naturally- by Robert Burns. Hugely popular here in a summer long show that’s gained a cult following (even amongst locals) drawing so many visitors that the harbour car-park may have to create a watery extension. Not only that – the show is free to view. As if Kirkcudbright wasn’t legendary enough.
