The Catcher In The Sky
Overhead, out of sight
Winged bringer of the night
How I’ll miss the eerie cry
Of the catcher-in-the-sky.
Walking out along the Fleet
Light enough to see my feet
Overhead and out of sight the
Oyster-catchers moonlit flight.
Night-fed fears multiply
Sent unheard into the sky, Catch a breeze upon the wing, Of the Oyster-Catcher King.
Shed fear, dip wing, flick tail
Together, over night prevail.
Face the dark alone? Not I.
I’m with my catcher-in-the-sky.
